Many of us know something about BMW i8.

Development:

BMW said that it begins with a project "I" in 2008.then raise the concept of BMW I8.BMW unveiled their concept vehicle in 2009 International motor show.BMW i8 Concept plug-in hybrid electric vehicle includes an electric motor located in the front axle powering the front wheels rated 96 kW  and 250 N·m , a turbocharged 1.5-liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine driving rear wheels rated 164 kW  and 300 N·m  of torque, with combined output of 260 kW  .  Together with the positioning of the motor and the engine over the axles, the result is an optimum 50/50 weight distribution. 

The design of the BMW i8:

BMW i8 looks a future concept car at first sight. In road it looks like a sports car.Look extremely low in height. And over all It gives you a premium look and performance.

BMW called the dynamic stream flow design. It contains striking details in LED's, U shape front light and rear LED's looks great and matched with its dynamic. the spectacular scissor doors give i8 a sports car look.  They are approximately 50% lighter than conventionally built doors. The sporty look continued in the interior also.The interior of the i8 looks like a  high tech machine, and it's packed  with high tech features. BWM i8  carbon fiber reinforced plastic passenger cell is light weight, aerodynamically optimized body offer a great performance.
  

Power and performance:

The BMW i8has a 7.1 kwh lithium ion battery pack ,it delivers an all electric range of 37 km .the production version has a fuel efficiency of 2.1 L/100km under NEDC test with carbon emission 49 g/km.

Engine :

i8  2014 model has a 1499cc I3 turbo 231 ps or 228 hp with torque 320 N.m.hybrid synchronous motor 131 ps or 129 hp with torque 250 N.m.

IN combined 362 ps and torque 570 N.m.

I8 feature eDrive technology in the plug-in hybrid system.Intelligent energy management coordinates the interaction between the electric motor with battery and the electric motor with combustion engine, and is always give maximum performance with minimum consumption. The result is a powerful and efficient plug-in hybrid system.The BMW Twin Power Turbo 1.5 litre 3 cylinder petrol engine display a strong performance with low consumption rate.

BMW i8 has 3 driving mode to give you a exceptional driving experience:COMFORT,ECO,SPORT and the edrive button optimise driving mode according to driving situation.

Connectivity:

The BMW i Remote App shows you current information about the vehicle status of your BMW i8, the charging status of the high-voltage battery as well as the efficiency and mobility all directly on your smart phone.i remote App available in Android and iOS App store .

  BMW plans to sell the i8 in about 50 countries, with the U.S. expected to be the largest sales market.in 2015 BMW i8 available in India with a price tag 2.29 crores.The car was sold for US$825,000 in USA.
